Coin Description: Rare high value brilliant uncirculated 1963-D Lincoln Cent with a true L on Rim / Off-Center Strike error. Encased in a higher quality premium slab holder making it look stunning. It was handled with care using gloves and clean surfaces. VERY well-preserved BU luster with a prominent RD shine without browning featuring a more rare smoother surface. Crispy details on both obverse and reverse. You can visually spot the “L-on-Rim” as it was also examined via a magnifying glass revealing the deviated / off-center edge with the L on Rim and upper motto in God We Trust closer to the rim as well as a thinner edge on the right side.
Authentic Origin: It had been preserved for many years in a special vacuum-packed plastic packet until recently in 2024 it was placed in a tight secure coin slab stored in a clean plastic bag in optimal temperature & low humidity. This coin was not graded and was not certified by an outside company yet was authenticated by the collector. Came from inheritance. Used to belong to a very experienced collector who was a family member. Essentially, I became the new original owner & coin collector. Genuine/authentic sticker contains a traceable internal stock # that separates this coin from other similar coins.
Historic Value: 1963 signifies these important historic events: “Civil Rights Movement” / Introduction of the Civil Rights Bill in Congress, John F. Kennedy’s assassination, Government’s ruling on separation of church & state at public schools and other important events… Having more historic value indicates that this coin can also be potentially a good investment of timeless value or can also be a great gift!
Rare Value Coin: A 1963-D cent is considered special because, while not inherently rare in circulated condition, finding one in high grade (especially with a “red” color AND with an L on Rim Off-Center Strike) is particularly difficult. According to research, due to a slightly poor striking quality of many coins from that mint year combining with high use, discovering a well-struck, high-grade BU 1963-D cent is quite valuable to collectors.
